Solo In Style:
Women over 50 travelling solo and loving it!

Join our Solo In Style Mallorca Getaway, curated by Deborah Ives, founder of Solo In Style, and Laura Cozik, founder of Mallorca by Design.  In December it's a purely local and festive experience.

8 Women are Welcome

Live On An Olive Farm...

Mallorca in winter is warm and wonderful ... and the natural scenery of the island is "evergreen".  Festive lights are twinkling in all of the villages, olives are in season, and the locals come out to play in the spirit of the holidays.  The journey begins with five nights on a breathtaking olive farm.  Each guest has their own room with private outdoor space ... and we are the only guests of the hotel.  The idea is that it feels like home to our tribe of Solo In Style sisters.  We then head to the city of Palma to spend four nights in a newly renovated 17th century palace, previously the home of a famous artist.  Agriculture, local experiences, food, culture, art and holiday markets are the focus.  The abundant winter sunshine and exceptional lack of tourism are simply the icing on the cake.

This Getaway Is For You If...

Mother nature and her creations are irresistible to you.  Historic walks through the past awaken your curiosity.  You love dining alfresco.  Visiting local markets to taste everything in season rocks your socks.  Temperatures 60-70 fahrenheit or 15-20 celcius is your comfort zone.  You adore hiking and exploring.  An immersion into the production of olive oil, sea salt and almonds sounds magical.  While you are excited about meeting women like you, you also fancy a bit of solo time.  A barefoot walk on the beach feels like the most lavish experience.  You prefer to mingle with locals and immerse yourself in their way of life.  Traveling with an intimate group of like-minded women is your jam.  There will be a good amount of walking, so comfortable shoes and an appropriate level of fitness is required.

Your Hosts...

How often is it that you go on holiday with the founder of your chosen travel tribe?  The founder of Mallorca by Design, who has been a local resident for 7 years, will be joining every planned moment of this experience with you.  There are unplanned moments as well, giving guests the freedom to explore solo.  Laura has been hosting events and spending the shoulder seasons in Mallorca since 2010, then in 2018 she finally packed her bags and left New York City to live on an olive farm.  Her focus is always on the most unique experiences ... you’re in for an unforgettable adventure.

Join Us...

This Mallorca Getaway is limited to just 8 amazing women.  We have exclusive use of our very own hotel for five beautiful nights on a luxurious farm in the center of the island.  We then visit the city of Palma for four spectacular nights in a hotel located in the old town.  Everyone has their own rooms with private bath.  Rooms are first come, first served.  Join us as we enjoy each other’s company, share our stories, forge new friendships, and have an insane amount of outdoor fun to boot.

Day 2, Thursday - December 4 - Randa

Total Driving Time:  0:20 minutes

Monastery, Spa Treatments, Olive Grove...

Aromatherapy stretch to reduce jetlag, coffee and breakfast.  We then have our first exploration in nature as we hike directly from our hotel to the top of Randa Mountain, in order to see the Santuari de Cura.  The other two sanctuaries on the Randa mountain are Gracia and Honorat, which you pass on the way to the summit.  These precious sites served as hermitages for the hermits.  It takes two hours to reach the Monastery on foot, where we are rewarded with the most spectacular 360 degree views across the island.  We visit the Cave of Ramon Llull, a place where the Mallorcan poet spent much of his life and where he is believed to have written some of his most important works.  Lunch is served in the village.  The late afternoon is then spent relaxing, reading, breathing deeply.  In the early evening, we have a commented walk through the olive grove with the production family.  Learn about the Mallorquin traditions of the peasantry, while getting to know the olive grove with all of it's flora and fauna.  A mediterranean BBQ dinner takes place during sunset.

Day 3, Friday - December 5 - Ses Salines / Es Trenc

Total Driving Time:  1:30 hours

Salt Production, Winter Beach, Seaside Dinner...

Blissful morning stretch, coffee and breakfast.  A relaxing morning is spent, spa services are available, peaceful walks through the olive grove are encouraged.  In the afternoon we depart for Ses Salines, where natural sea salt is harvested and spiced in premium quality.  Learn about the production and how the "salt flowers" are scooped by hand, rightly bearing the name - White Gold.  We have a light tapas lunch here before heading to Es Trenc to walk barefoot along the beach.  After a 5km walk along this dreamy white sand beach with turquoise water, we arrive to Colonia Sant Jordi.  This traditional fishing village is located on the southern-most tip of Mallorca, surrounded by the natural wonders of a beautiful rocky coast.  With evidence of settlements from the Bronze Age, Colonia Sant Jordi was valued by the ancient Romans for salt production ... even back then.  Guests have time to walk the village and pop in and out of a few shops.  Dinner is served seaside.

Day 4, Saturday - December 6 - Felanitx

Total Driving Time:  1:00 hour

Almond Production, Lunch Under The Trees...

Blissful morning stretch, coffee and breakfast.  In the afternoon we head towards Felanitx, a village located in the center of the island.  One of the largest almond farms exists here.  We learn all about these tree nuts, how they are harvested, how they are processed, and the many local products that are created in their honor.  Guests sample almond oil, almond cake, almond cheese, sweet and savory snacks.  We meet with the managers of the farm as well as the woman who produces some of the best flavored almonds on the island.  Lunch is served under the almond trees.  The flowers have yet to bloom, but it is a beyond magical experience nontheless.  A bit of down time back at our sanctuary precedes a tour of the olive mill to learn how the fruit is processed into extra virgin oil.  Dinner is La Nit de L’oli ... an incredible tasting menu with our finca's own olive oil.

Day 5, Sunday - December 7 - Relaxing Day / Photo Shoot

Total Driving Time:  0:00 hours

Time To Be Still...

Blissful morning stretch, coffee and breakfast.  Today is a gift, as there are no schedules and no set plans.  Guests relish in the freedom to simply be still.  That being said, you may go on a walk through nature, meet your fellow guests in the family room for a chat session or some tea, sit in the garden on one of the many outdoor lounges to enjoy your thoughts ... it's time to breathe.  Lunch is on the patio.  In the late afternoon, we have a professional photographer coming to take individual photos of everyone.  The environment of our hotel is the perfect backdrop.  Bring clothing that you feel comfortable and joyful wearing.  In the evening, our signature Solo In Style party takes place.  The motif will be announced during our pre-travel Zoom call.

Day 8, Wednesday - December 10 - Castell de Bellver / Christmas

Total Driving Time:  0:00 hours

Hike To A Castle, Christmas Markets...

Coffee and breakfast.  A 5km walk along the waterfront, followed by an uphill, dirt trail, takes us to the Castell de Bellver.  The translation in Catalan is "the castle with a lovely view" as this Gothic-style structure sits high atop the city of Palma with the most fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea.  Construction of Castell de Bellver began in 1300 under the rule of King Jaume II.  It was intended to be a royal residence, but only two kings ever spent time here.  In 1717 it became a military prison, and was used in both the Napoleonic and Spanish Civil Wars.  Lunch is then solo.  In the evening we visit the highly anticipated Pueblo Español Christmas Market for some warm wine, live music, crafts and keepsake ornaments.  There are numerous food kiosks, which we invite you to sample as this is dinner.  A magnificent celebration of the most wonderful time of year.

Physical Ability and Health Requirements

Our events have a great deal of walking to best explore and enjoy each location.  There will be rocky dirt trails, steep hills, stone stairs and ancient cobblestones.  It is entirely possible that we may walk 5+ miles per day, spending many hours on our feet.  We require all guests to have a base level of fitness that allows them to do that.  We will provide plenty of downtime for rest and recovery and you are welcome to skip a day.  However, we ask that you be cognizant of the itinerary and all that you will experience prior to registering for our event.

If you have special health issues, mobility issues, or take medications, we ask that you advise us prior to registering for our event so that we can ensure there are no red flags and that you are a good fit for the planned itinerary.  Failure to do so could result in a diminished experience as we may be unable to accommodate your needs.

Respecting Our Community

To protect the wonderful community of women who are coming together to share in this exceptional experience, we will avoid all talks of religion and politics.  Additionally, tolerance will always reign supreme as we accept and respect the different cultures, opinions and lifestyle choices of others.

Booking Flights

Flights should not be booked until we approve your registration and application, and until we officially host our meet and greet on Zoom with your fellow travelers.  This is when we discuss the best options.

December in Mallorca is the ideal time.  Temperatures are between 60-70 degrees fahrenheit during the day (15-20 celcius), and 50-55 in the evenings (10-13).  The abundant winter sunshine is a compliment to the evergreen trees that blanket the island year round.  During the day, dining al fresco with a cozy sweater is very common.

Maximum Group Size

We are accepting just 8 women for this event.
